The EU’s goal of becoming climate neutral by the middle of the century triggers a political battle.
The President of the European Commission has announced the “Green Deal”, a thirty-year plan that will influence all EU policies to ensure climate neutrality by 2050.
The aim of the plan is to fulfill the Paris Agreement and to confirm its importance for European industry, trade and politics.
The main elements of the Green Deal are:
• Climate neutrality
• Clean, affordable and safe energy
• Directing the industry to a clean and circular economy
• Construction and renovation in an efficient manner
• Zero pollution and non-toxic environment
• Preservation and restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity
• Healthy and environmentally friendly food chain
• Accelerate change to sustainable mobility
